Mini Review: Vertigo

7 Mar

Vertigo (1958)
1) Synopsis
A San Francisco detective suffering from acrophobia investigates the strange activities of an old friend’s wife, all the while becoming dangerously obsessed with her.
2) Was it a positive experience?
Most definitely, it may actually be my favorite of all the Hitchcock movies.
3) Technically any good?
For the 1950’s it was technically really good I would even say it could hold its own with some of today movies, technically speaking.
4)How did it leave you feeling after?
I actually cried with laughter at the end, though I don’t think that was the response Hitchcock was trying to illicit.
5) Would you go through that again?
6) how many stars? (1-5)

The best part about Vertigo is that it goes long stretches without any dialogue, yet remains riveting.

1.Vertigo 2. Psycho 3. North By Northwest are my top Hitchcock films.

That is definitely a great quality of the movie. I have seen three movies this year like that, in which that was done very well: The American, Enter the Void, and a third movie for which a review will be posted later this week.

As much as I hate to admit it, I have yet to see Psycho, but my top three Hitchcock films are: 1. “Vertigo” 2. “North by Northwest” and 3. “Notorious”
