The Best Music You’ve Never Heard: Part 2

15 Jan

For part two of this segment, I’m going to go with another set of guys who do covers on YouTube that I recently discovered. Michael Henry and Justin Robinett take alternative/pop songs and change them into piano masterpieces.

Again, just like Matt and Eric, I was introduced to one of Michael Henry and Justin Robinett’s covers by a friend of mine. I had heard the original song before (Your Guardian Angel by Red Jumpsuit Apparatus), but I never paid it much attention until I heard their voices as they sang along and played the piano melodically in the background. While most covers on YouTube are done with guitars, drums, and other instruments, these guys display some true talent by only using pianos. Michael Henry and Justin Robinett are from Lubbock, Texas and they have been on YouTube for over a year now.

The due have covered such a large spectrum of artists that anyone can appreciate their music. They have covered the likes of John Mayer, Mayday Parade, Paramore, Say Anything, Jason Derulo, Secondhand Serenade, Coldplay, Owl City, Boys Like Girls, Michael Buble, Jack’s Mannequin, and more. Their covers are so diverse that their fan base has begun to grow throughout the YouTube community.

Once I listened to them on YouTube for a couple of weeks, I found out they have two albums up on iTunes. The first album is titled “Michael Henry and Justin Robinett” and includes songs such as ‘Hero/Heroine’ by Boys Like Girls, ‘Fix You’ by Coldplay and ‘Wow, I Can Get Sexual Too’ by Say Anything. The whole CD only costs $7.02 (which is a steal of a deal) and includes 13 songs. The second album is titled “Simplistic Duplexity” and includes songs such as ‘Dark Blue’ by Jack’s Mannequin, ‘Three Cheers for Five Years’ by Mayday Parade, ‘Half of My Heart’ by John Mayer, and ‘Fall For You’ by Secondhand Serenade. Also, this CD contains a really cool rendition of ‘Airplanes/Brick’ by Boring Brick by Paramore which is basically a combination of the chorus of Airplanes and the entire song of Brick by Boring Brick. The whole CD costs $9.99 and includes 12 songs. I bought this whole CD and couldn’t be happier with the $10 I spent on it. These guys have a lot of potential are definitely going to hit it big soon.

So, now I will give you the video that first got me into Michael Henry and Justin Robinett, Your Guardian Angel by Red Jumpsuit Apparatus.
